Hi, I'm Dr. Jenny

Dance was my entire life growing up. I never imagined doing anything else. I danced professionally in major ballet companies around the United States. While I loved dance, and still do, professional ballet culture felt incongruent with my values. I was encouraged to be silent, ignore my pain, and maintain a body size that was too small for me to live healthfully, all without any expert support or guidance. After retiring, I pursued a second career in health psychology. In 2020, I graduated with a doctorate in clinical health psychology. I have expertise in behavioral medicine, body image concerns, weight management, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression.

My personal and professional experiences give me multiple perspectives on health, performing arts culture, and mental wellness. My goal is to support performing athletes (i.e., dancers, gymnasts, and figure skaters) in evolving their respective fields to be more inclusive and health-driven. I believe this is possible while maintaining the athletic and artistic progress each sport has made over time.

I offer evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and psychological science seminars and skill-building workshops specifically designed for dancers. I also offer personal consultations, resources, and training for studios/gyms/rinks, staff, educators/coaches, and parents/caregivers.
